While we’re at it, we thought we’d take a moment to celebrate some of our custom home highlights of 2013. As you may know, Clarum Homes is all about high-performance homes: places of beauty, comfort and quality, designed and constructed for people who want to practice an environmentally responsible lifestyle, with a lighter carbon footprint, without sacrificing style and luxury.

Luxury Farmhouse Living

Our first 2013 highlight is the Atherton Farmhouse, a state-of-the-art dream home proving that luxury and energy-efficiency can indeed be a match made in heaven.

An absolutely stunning example of what it looks like to lighten your ecological impact, this project is up for LEED Platinum certification, certainly one of our favorite high-performance homes to date. Ask us for a tour!

Modern Lifestyle in Menlo Park

High-efficiency framing. Super-insulation. Solar power. SIPS. This modern two-story home demonstrates all our standard high-performing features, including a heat-recovery ventilator that’ll keep the whole house cozy on only 16 watts.

It’s not just about efficiency though – it’s also about how you feel each day you live there. Fresh air, plenty of natural light and a spacious layout combine for a lifestyle that’s both eco-friendly and enlivening.

High-Performance in Los Altos

Style marries minimalism in the clean, modern lines of this Los Altos single-story. With an optional outdoor kitchen, shower and pool, this home suggests a seamless indoor/outdoor lifestyle, softening the boundary between the two and quietly inviting you out of doors.

Like all of our high-performance homes, the Los Altos Modern also supports an energy-conservative lifestyle: incorporating photovoltaics, solar hot water, HRV, SIPS, high-efficiency appliances and more.

Passive-Inspired Mission Revival

Drawing inspiration from the Spanish Missions of 18th- and 19th-century California, this Los Altos home weaves traditional Mission Revival aesthetics (like roof tiles, massive walls and wide eaves) with innovative, passive-inspired technologies (including super-insulated doors, high-efficiency windows and solar hot water).

Modern Farmhouse, Napa-style

Talk about luxury. We’re currently breaking ground on a connoisseur’s dream home, with over 9,000 square feet of modern farmhouse interiors, great-rooms for entertaining and an epicurean kitchen complete with butler’s pantry.

A yoga studio, spa, wine cellar and tasting bar make this home feel like a private resort, while incorporating all the best-practice technologies of our high-performance homes. Follow the progress here!
